IB TWS terrible for Mac Users

    Hey Kiwi Trader,

I am most certainly not a "spammer" as you put it. Pete posted a message that there was no good trading software for the Mac and I replied to it. If you look at my other posts on this board, they are ALL in response to people who are looking for trading software that can run on a Mac or other platform.

A spammer is someone who posts unsolicted ads. I am not doing that. I am trying to create an awareness in the trading community for a product that can help traders succeed. If I was offering Viagra via postal mail with no prescription, you would be correct. In this context, you are not.

QST has been designed to run on all platforms. In doing so, we did not make any compromises that would lessen the utility or quality of the product. I invite you to give it a try whether you run OS X or Windows (or Linux or BSD or Solaris for that matter). I am willing to hear your public praise or criticism and respond to it. After all, that is how the product has continued to evolve and improve... feedback from passionate users.

  2. I stand corrected on the definition of spammer. Despite that, its an impressive number of adverts for the software that didn't include a declaration of your vested interest in the success of the product and probably didn't generate revenue for ET.

If you were to add to the existing set of posts dedicated to the product it would be appropriate that you signed off as the developer.

Note: I have no interest in Sierra Chart, Interactive Brokers or Windows XP other than that of a satisfied user :)

I take exception to your characterization of my posts as "adverts". The reason people come to ET is they are traders looking for answers. I am not creating new threads, rather I am responding to queries that have been posted by ET users. ET benefits from this because to the extent that more and more traders find this destination useful, ET earns more advertising revenue from their banner ads and such.

My participation in ET benefits the users of ET and I plan to continue to be an advocate for what I feel is a superior solution for traders. To be honest, it never occured to me that anyone would question my motives, but in the interest of full and complete disclosure, I have modified my signature (see below) as a result of your comments. I hope it meets with your approval. :)

You have mentioned that you use Sierra, TWS and Windows XP. I might be jumping the gun, but we are working on an IB interface. This will reduce the length of your disclosure to 3 letters: QST because you won't have to mention your platform (it runs on all of them), your chart package (charts are fully integrated in QST. In fact, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange uses our charts on their website) and because we support RANorder, TT FIX Adapter, and in the near future, IB and other brokers, it will not be necessary to be tied to one broker's software for order execution. In fact, QST can connect to multiple brokers simultaneously and route group orders to multiple brokers simultaneously.

I don't want to give you the impression I am a blowhard. I really do think QST is a breath of fresh air in a stale room. As I said, I am willing to take the criticism as well as the praise. Give it a try...

  7. You guys are correct .. it doesn't work. Just put it at the bottom of the posts. You can use formatting to make it more interesting ... note mine below :)

The things people believe in are usually just what they instinctively feel is right; the justifications and
arguments are the least important part of the belief. That's why you can win the argument, prove them
wrong, and still they believe what they did in the first place. You've attacked the wrong thing.
