Following up, when I spoke to IB they said it’s a high priority and they’re actively working on this. All versions of TWS should get a fix pushed out as soon as it’s resolved. Still a bit of a drag in the meanwhile.
I experienced similar symptoms today on IB Mobile app. Also, options chains often still take a while to load. I have a fast fiber connection. This prevented me from making some trades. So they would have made more commissions if this was not an issue.
