What are you taking about ? This means I can not let an autotrading system unattended when I am away. If it prompts me the system is completely out of game until I return, and that can be a month later. This is crazy. There is no way they have to prompt again an user when he has already logged in (it has always to automatically reconnect in case of disconnection). And there is no logic reason. They a just a waste commissions... and clients. Not everybody has nothing to do and have the luxury to stay in front of the pc every Monday to answer the harassing prompt and restart. This must not happen. Weekdays or no weekdays, it is immaterial. This has been going on for years and we have even suggested how to solve it on the client side. Is it really so hard ?
Yes, I see your point and realize the inconvenience IB is causing you, even though, for most of us, this is definitely not as bad as if it happened during a weekday, when the markets are open.
>for most of us Not sure who "most of us" is. I have more than 400 users connected, and I can assure that they are quite busy and cannot be every Monday in front of the pc to restart their systems. Maybe, you really mean to "most of us who can be in front of the pc every Monday"... >not as bad as if it happened during a weekday Of course. If that dared happen even during the weekdays, I think they could say immediately goodbye to all automated traders and the rich commissions...
Yes, sure I get your points. However, like Manny says to Tony in Scarface, I will add: "Just remember, last year at this time we were in a much worse situation. I say be happy with what you got".
We are deliriously happy. This is Tuesday 22 Oct 2013:
Damn, now we are in that awful situation we were in a year ago, so by all means "do not be happy with what you got". Now is the time to complain loudly. I didn't have your problem here yet, although my server is in the US, and I think yours is in Europe, so you're probably connected to the Swiss server if I remember correctly.
According to our logs, you "logged off" your TWS session when you tried to use QuickTrade yesterday. When you use WebTrader or QuickTrade, TWS/IBGateway may stay connected, but upon reconnect you will have to go thru second factor authentication again. We will see if we can improve this, but for the time being if you need to stay logged on, please do not use the same username in the WebTrader or QuickTrade. Thanks!
I never used any web trader in my life, nor yesterday. Yes, I logged in to check my reports, but that happened before much before I found the password prompt. Of course when you open the TWS and the Gateway is running, you get disconnected and get a prompt on the Gateway. That is perfectly fine, and happened even yesterday while I was at the pc. This is expected and fine. But we are talking of a completely different matter here. The password prompt I am talking about (picture above) appeared sometime during the night, and there was nobody in front of the pc. When I left it, it was normally logged (several FUTs and FOPs working ) in and working fine as usual. You need to solve the issue. Tom
We have added a confirmation popup on in IB account management which appears before QuickTrade is launched, which should prevent accidental launching, and subsequent second factor prompt on the next TWS/IBGateway reconnect. A better solution for the issue is in works too.
8 december 2013 - Gateway (did not connect to acct management in recent times nor did I open any other IB program) (Not sure why you are so reluctant to correct this client side, as already suggested. It's obvious you are having hard time fixing it, server side.)
