  1. look back in the thread for instructions on replacing your "settings" file. I think its corrupt. I had the same problem and all is fine now that i replaced it.

    What does it mean when you try to buy the IPO BIDU and it says "This contract can only be closed."?

    We need spcecial permission to trade IPOs?

    EDIT:

    Just called IB. It's lame.
    They said they won't have it in their system until tomorrow.

  9. nononsense--------not sure, i will talk to my contacts about your question. i am computer dumb so one question of you----------why the use of linux, let me know-----thanks

    also if you do not want a monthly platform fee, then transact has an excellent free platform with top notch execution and reliability----this is my experience. could this platform work for you?

  10. Its been my experience (over 2 years) that TWS data , especially volume but also pricing is not always reliable. This is in addition actual TWS technical problem (TWS down, etc).

    IB data often varies from E-Signal & every other major provider & trading firm.

    IB reaction has been nil - they refuse to acknowledge, investigate or respond in any meaningful way.

    Additionally, I've seem cases with options I was trading where the closing prices &volume changed after the close (more volume from elsewhere reported from less volume reported at the close with change in closing price). It can make trading with them a bit iffy at times
