Change from US to HK and vice versa has to be done by IB over the weekend. It's often not as simple as using a static IB as data vendors and (maybe IB also) use a alphanumeric address i.e gw1.ibllc.com.hk so that they can switch you between servrrs according to server availability - if you hardwire this e.g. 202.1.7.3:4000 you get dropped if they switch.
How to have two accounts (for one person) in IB ? I think this option is a valid one ? I called earlier this week to IB customer service to ask to change my server from US server to Hong Kong server, but they told me they change servers for clients only once a week in the weekends so I have to wait.
Up till now, today, everything OK! From Ib's forum: http://www.interactivebrokers.com/discus/messages/2/29972.html?1123124934 Skunk and Bob: Thanks for the error codes... it seems so silly, however, to force a TWS and API client app(s) close and restart, when TWS clearly knows that it is disconnected, and it would (seemingly) be so easy for TWS to simply attempt a reconnect every 5 mins or whatever... Also, the problem with detecting inactivity is that there are plenty of markets (read: futures markets that I am trading) that routinely have 5+ minutes of real inactivity. Interactive Brokers: Do you have any plans to make TWS attempt data farm reconnects? Or should I program a restart mechanism? ---------------------------------------------------- I got nailed earlier from 12-1 PM Eastern Time (US). I just got lucky the market barely moved during that time. Although those messages may work (how can you test it???) I think I want to program my application to detect a lost connection by a lack of activity over a few minutes (say 5) then automatically kill TWS and restart it and then reconnect. Of course programming the backfill will be the real pain in the â¢â¢â¢!!!! SSB
Still cannot login, second day in a row. Never had a problem like that with any broker for the past 8 years...
http://status.interactivebrokers.net/cgi-bin/bb_status.pl information is incorrect. you can get hostorical data but not real-time information
fuck me guys. cmon!! get a grip. you dont need to take this shit. take the loss & move on like good traders = GET A NEW BROKER.
This is unacceptable. IB should be refunding some comissions to make up for this issue. I am sure they will not do anything, typical of them.
The saga continues. I just got some strange error messages when logging into TWS and all my settings are gone. OK lets spend the next 15 minutes to reconfigure TWS (for example Button Trader cannot connect to it). I do not dare to trade anyway. Not good. Trent
