i do backup my PC's. not only with system restore, but on dvd's and external hd :D
i also believe all those events related to each other and have nothing to do with my pc, which is dedicated for IB only.

Possible, to be sure.........but just restore.....it'll solve those probs. (Comes in real handy when you upgrade 4-5 builds of TWS to the new stuff....and it's a mess, you can always get your old one back with ghost!)

When you kill an application with task manager, it can do some squirrely things to your system, though.

7.36 am in BKK and I'm giving up for the day already. No backfill and TWS has disconnected - ping to server is fine.

You can do it with a DOS command from C: prompt but I forget exact syntax - IB HK can give it to you.

I have an app called stay connected running which has a connection icon in my system tray that is red or green - not 100% reliable as I can remain connected when there is no ping and get disconnected when ping is alive.

Also use Multiping/Pingplotter to try and isolate where the problem is and give me some kind of read on packet loss - currently ZERO but I can't log back into TWS.

No problems logging in to Refco................

  10. Ok IB it is 1:00 AM, 30 minutes past when things should be available and login is slow and no market data when you finally get logged in - despite the glib "all systems are operating normally" posted on the bulletin page.
