1) To be able to automatically load specified basket pages when just opening the basket trader. Also, in order to reduce mouse clicks, to be able to set to default the same pop up questions that come up each time a basket page is opened. 2) To be able to set the update limit prices feature to a default that is set per each individual page. 3) With the new rounded display feature, I would like to be able to transmit orders as they are displayed in rounded form in TWS, because right now the orders transmit at the prices that aren't rounded. Thank You
Stop breaking the API. Currently Hyperorder and Dynaorder will not connect to TWS. Apparently it takes constant maintenance to keep up with the changes to the API. Whether they are intentional changes or not I don't know but I had a technical setup that was dependent on one or the other of the aforementioned softwares and now it is in the trash can.
I agree. I posted two things that were broken with the 860 release (the clientID and time stamp changes). I had to back out to the prior version to trade. The API definitely got hit this time!
How about a heads up that the ActiveX controls were actually going to change on any given TWS release????? 5 minutes before open is a terrible time to find out on my own.
Shred: Here is what I did and do to avoid costly problems with undocumented "features" and real bugs: I opened a paper trading account. Whenever IB releases a new downloadable version of TWS I download it to my "test" machine. I run my paper trading account on the test machine (I'm down about $300K in that account, some systems don't work too well!). IB doesn't break all the features with each new release, just a few. I test the new release against the paper trading account. If the features I use work for a few days I download the latest version again, also to the "test" machine. I run for a day. If things still work I then copy the last download to my "trading" machine and use it. If TWS don't work I keeping checking versions until it does. I also report the bug. Since the IB wb site does not show the "decimal" version of the TWS (e.g., 860.6, 860.8, etc), just the base number, I use the two-step method for downloading. If the second download has the same decimal number as the first I skip the additional testing. I copy the last download code from my test machine to my trading machine to ensure that I'm not downloading a newer decimal version than the one I tested. IB's software documentation and regression testing is not exactly world-class, but their overall brokerage service certainly is. Jack
talkin' about booktrader: i dont understand whats the use of the 'close position' button on the top of the ladder, since it doesnt work...same for check acct. since u can do it from the tws and all the info about your orders can be found elsewhwere in booktrader itself. i think it would be smart to get rid of those features so to leave more space to view price levels, innit[?]
You can remove the Book Trader buttons if you don't find them useful or replace them with buttons you do like. Configure > Buttons > Remove
