Bob, that is just a quick way of weeding out people with computers that will not be able to handle the load from TWS But seriously, the CPU usage is most likely caused by that scrolling ticker. I have seen it a dozen times. PLEASE get rid of it, for your own sake. It adds no value at all, slows down the load of the home page - the one page that is supposed to be instant, and then eats up CPU (though not as much as some others I have seen)
any versions of TWS works just fine on my old P3 and i have no complains about it. but this page-is just distracting. IB is not something like shockwave.com if potential client visit their front page from his old home computer and not able to see all those buttons with info about fees, soft, account types-he is gone. are you guys don't care about it?who need this stupid picture with mouse transmitting something on half of the screen? personally-i don't use wireless mouse for trading and not recommend it to anyone. learn my lesson.
Is there any way to set "MAX LOSS" for the day, such that the IB stand alone won't let you trade for the rest of the day? thx
I have been using IB for about 6 months now, and I think they are just right for my needs. However, my suggestions would be: 1. Add a row showing the account overnight buying power amount, not just the amount for daytrading. 2. Add a column that lets you know the margin maintenance required for each position on the accounts screen. It would be nice to have that info right there on the screen instead of having to calculate it myself.
why would you need something like that? aren't you the one who doesn't stop talking about "no risk"? and apart from that - if you do not have the discipline to stop - you won't get far anyway as a trader.
lol relax.... trying to talk my brother-in-law out of trying to trade after he has been seeing me making decent money year after year all the while he works at some factory for $10/hr. I told him I would help him eventhough it's against my better judgement. I set up an IB account for him and don't want him to start pushing buttons like a video game and lose his hard earned money in one shot. As I won't be there to watch him I need a way to "limit" the max loss per day, as I cannot be sure he won't double down and move stops. I checked on the IB help page but couldn't find anything.... I will keep looking
