Is it possible to change the defult colours for the columns in book trader? I'd like to be able to change them but I can't figure out how. If they can't be changed can IB add this as a feauture. Thanks, Runningbear
yes u can with da new installement: go to booktrader conf--colour settings and choose. I set it up with dark blue and dark red, white numbers on size: much better imo.
First, Is there a way to eliminate the popups that appear for short orders that are rejected due to being HTB? They are a nightmare for us API users. They seemed to have appeared on the last release of TWS. Second, I got a bulletin notifying me that a stock I had tried to short this morning had been located. The rate is 3.5. What does 3.5 mean? Will the short be available tomorrow on the open? Third, I had the most infuriating chat with IB this afternoon. At first I was told there is not a short locate system at IB (yes, they really told me this). After proving that there is such a system I went through a whole "who's on first" conversation about what the 3.5 rate means. I finally gave up because the guy was either an idiot or deliberately screwing with me. This is the kind of encounter that loses customers. I've always been aware of and sometimes encountered IB's CS problems, but this was jaw-dropping. "I don't know, I'll get back to you" is a perfectly acceptable answer. Making an answer up or screwing with the customer is not.
1. HTB? Please send me a PM what you mean. If a dialogue interferes with the API functionality, I'll try to get it fixed. 2. 3.5 means 3.5% as the benchmark for the rebate rate calculation (instead of the daily posted BM which is today around 4.55%) in the event you actually short the stock. This is an indicative rate only. I wrote the message myself so I need to see if somehow the thing is getting corrupted since it should have been pretty clear. I'll check. Availability is same day only. There is a regulatory standard called "affirmative determination" that requires people who are shorting stock to know ahead of time that they can deliver it. As your broker, we do that determination on your behalf by providing availability lists. For special locates (finding a lender), the duration of the locate is the current trading session. It is possible other brokers handle it differently, but this is how IB does it. 3. My bad. I have not disseminated the availability of the new system inside CS. I think only one or two people even know. I thought of this system as an SLB (stock-lend-borrow) system and didn't anticipate inquiries about it. Completely my error, not the service group's. Sorry. [if you PM me the ticket number or your account numbe, I will also look into the interaction process.]
IBj, Can IB's API have the open price for stocks and a Stock Screener similar to the website below with different parameters that user can select? I think the stock screener will boost the trading activity. http://www.marketwatch.com/tools/stockresearch/screener/default.asp?siteid=mktw The open price will probably be located at the following, I guess but I'm not sure (Taken from Java API User's Guide): void tickPrice(int id, TickType field, double price, int canAutoExecute) id - the ticker ID that was specified previously in the call to reqMktData() tickType - specifies the type of price. Possible values are: 1 = bid 2 = ask 4 = last 6 = high 7 = low 9 = close price - could be the bid, ask, last price, daily high, daily low or last day close, depending on tickType value.
we have a big problem here: with new tws version, charts candles disappear on the top/bottom of the chart window; the frame does just not adjust to fit candles if they get taller on da top and da bottom of da screen. so if a stock is rallyin' or plungin' I just cannot see where is goin' after candles/bars/lines get to the edges...the fractal just goes beyond da frame.
A simple request..... I would like to be able to set an alarm for values on the Account Summary page, in particular "unrealized gains". Also, but lower priority, I would be interested in being able to create a simple intraday line chart of my account equity. If possible, showing several days at a time. I am a system-driven swing trader, and my positions change as the day progresses, and I would like to look for patterns of intraday highs/lows in my equity.
