Put an option in the Executions window to remove the "summary" row that gets inserted when you get more than one fill on an order. I just want to see the individual fills (the way it used to work a couple years ago). Make the Executions window save it's column width. I have to keep adjusting it.
During the pre-opening indication phase on ECBOT (at least), when the bid and offer are crossed, both disappear from TWS. This is undesirable.
Traders don't have risk managers like hedge funds so how about allowing traders to control risk by allowing them to: limit the # of shares or contracts they can trade freeze the account for the day (no more trades can be placed other than closing current positions) after the account losses a certain amount of money prevent them from averaging down
great ideas chewbacca..i would add "limit the maximum $ value of positions that can be taken on"..eg all open orders cancelled and trader is limited to closing positions only if he takes on $100,000 worth of positions
All these Risk-management settings can be found in an IB- front-end (ButtonTrader) already...but to be frank: only a few really sets and uses them properly {traders hate to lose 'freedom' when the market turns against them -- ironically --}
Oh no. When I read many of these "recommendations" I feel like puking immediately... I really hope IB is reasonable & selective and they do not start to implement such kind of bullshit. It would only drive up IB's (and indirectly our) costs and clog TWS a little more. I am a professional trader, I see absolutely no point why IB implemented e.g. "streaming Yahoo news" into TWS. The sucker needs already >120megs each machine it runs on. So, here is a suggestion from someone who generates REAL commissions: Stay where you are already good at and try to improve this step by step. Also, you may sneak a peek at X-Trader (ok this one has the advantage it is no Java app) and maybe drive IB TWS' style a little into this direction in the future (I am not talking about the price ladder, just the overall style).
============ This is an improvement, thanks for improving realtime candlecharts,[ stocks, derivatives.] IB Candlecharts are much easier on my eyes ; remember when barcharts were the only opton.
has this been suggested ? ok I know it is a far fetched idea ... group policy health insurance for retail active traders with IB or corporate membership discounts for health clubs or something related to the mental and physical stress than can go with the hours and P+L swings of trading for a career
