Your machine must have some issues if this is happening to you (the ctrl>alt>delete problem). I.e., I don't believe that is necessarily a TWS problem. Can you not click on the "Do not show me tips again" checkbox?
I do that and it still comes up everytime. As far as issues go with the computer, thanks to Mr Gates, it appears that you cannot fix minor windows problems with a simple update on windows 2000 pro from the installtion disc and the only option appears to be a clean install. If that's possible I haven't figured how to do it. I thought this was possible with Win 98.
Since a lot of people are trading indices and a lot of people seem to agree that there are very few reliable indicators, except for a handful of market internals, it would be great to get them from IB directly. TICK-NYSE and TRIN-NYSE already work. VOL-NYSE doesn't work yet, still blank. What people really need is to plot advance volume against decline volume, preferrably tick one. The actual plotting is a job for Mr. Medved I guess. Separate data feeds for advance volume and decline volume would be necessary for that. And then there's the $EPREM and the TIKI of course. Best regards.
Have you tried File-->Save Settings after you have told the tooltips to go away for good? It sounds like since your TWS is not shutting down properly, it isn't able to save information to disk. Is your hard drive ok?
- Provide a direct interface to T&S from the context (right-click) menu of a market data line that lets you enter a specific minute in time (including date) to look at, defaulting to the current minute. It's significantly more difficult to do this through the charts currently. - Make trades available for the ARCA route, both in charts and T&S. - Also, it would be good if there were a checkbox that shows a composite T&S from all the individual routes when you bring up T&S for any specific route or SMART. It should have an extra column that shows which market that line is from. I had to bring up 6 charts and then look at T&S to get the full picture of the market.
Sometime last year, TWS stopped playing execution sounds for fills of orders in a basket. While I can understand that people who use marketable baskets might not want to hear a bunch of fill sounds, there are other uses for baskets. Please make this "feature" optional.
Would be nice to have tws adjust the average cost of a position when you are assigned options. it makes it much harder to manage the position especially if you are part feed the options early. if one has an existing position and then is part assigned earlier or upon expiry and the new average position does not adjust put the trader at a disadvantage especially if it is done during the day. IB obviously does the math upon the trader exiting the trade to adjust the account for the credit manager to be accurate..would be efficient on IB's part to assist the trader in having accurate information versus being deprived of information that is vital to day to day trading. w
re - above it also causes an accounting nightmare for the traders as when you print out your daily activity your true pnl is exaggerated and you need to provide additional footnotes to the accounting department re the assignment for accuracy as your new assigned position shows zero in tws portfolio window creating false information upon exiting positons. w
