IB Suggestions & Improvements : For IB representatives to remain a part of an open forum like elitetrader, taking questions, making clarifications, and asking for suggestions. While it may be burdensome to IB personnel to deal with some of the junk here, I've seen some of the best customer service through this forum (vs. chat/email/phone), by IB. The real IB "behind-the-scenes" guys seem to be here. I think the suggestions taken here are mainlined straight into the platform, like a christmas list to santa.......that gets answered everyday. I think it helps IB to create a platform that attracts users, and helps lock in the existing customers into an always improving TWS. Thanks for the quality people here, IB.
whitster, You can create your own PREM in QT by building a new portfolio that subtracts the cash index from the front month futures contract. Here is an example portfolio for the ES-PREM using IB symbols: Symbol -------------------------Quantity -------------------------------------------------- GLOBEXESH6 -------- 1 CBOE:$SPX -------- -1 In order to chart this value you must right click on the total row of the portfolio and select "Open Intraday Chart". This will give you a PREM that updates right along with DTN's EM-PREM.Z symbol.
Dear IB: It would be great to be able to have alerts trigger using an email message and SMS message simultaneously, like other online brokers do. Instead of having to choose between one or the other. Just feedback.
It's been mentioned on this thread a few times that IB has a prem window. Specifically, it is called an index arbitrage window. This is true. However the window has not worked properly for months. It mystifies me why they don't get it working properly. When it was first introduced, it did seem to work properly most of the time. The bar should fluctuate between green and red as prem fluctuates over and below fair value. But in its present form, it merely gets long and red on an up day, and long and green on a down day. Why don't they fix it? It would also be immensely helpfull to have the actual number of the prem in the box.
Just wanted to add my voice to those wanting NASDAQ TotalView. I called in this morning to ask if they had plans offer TotalView and he said "TotalView?" and I had to explain what it was. So he said to send an e-mail to help@interactivebrokers.com. (shrug) TotalView: https://www.nasdaqtrader.com/asp/tv_description.asp
FWIW, this is the response I got when I asked IB if they'll provide TotalView: Dear Trader, I will look into this request and get back to you shortly. Management will need to approve the additional service and it will take about a week after approved to set it up and make it accessible to customers. I will get back to you when I can confirm whether we will offer this market data service or not. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again. Regards, Jeanette IB Data Services
Create a separate list called: "Shortable Stocks Added in Prev 60 Minutes"... Or better yet... Build a small 2-3 person Stock Loan Department for "Institutional" accounts. Make it work by email or whatever... but make it work. rm+
IB chat CSR seemed very unfamiliar with "trailing stop-limit". Finally, the CSR said that the order had been temporarily disabled. My request is to enable a working version of "trailing stop-limit" order, in which the limit price can be auto-adjusted to the stop-activation price (perhaps up to just 2 decimal points to keep it simple).
Jims82, Wow. it looks like it will work i won't know for SURE until the cash index is open so i can chart it. right now, cash is closed. but very cool thanks again
Trouble with IBâs Trouble Tickets I asked a straightforward question using an IB Trouble Ticket and received a reply a day later that clearly shows IB rep âjohnwâ didnât even read the question. There needs to be a way to forward a Trouble Ticket question and answer to an IB supervisor when it is handled that way---perhaps an âEscalateâ button on the ticket itself. This might get me an answer to my question, something I still donât have, as well as giving feedback to the powers that be at IB. Thank you, JP
