Look at Multicharts from www.tssupport.com it is a tradestation and easylanguage clone with support for IB datafeed and backfill. Also www.tradesignal.com is another clone that is considering an IB version.
Multicharts seems to be a charting software, understanding one will be able to trade from it soon, but can it do automated trading ? tradesignal, the question is the same, can it do automated trading through IB ?
It would be nice if Peterffy or IB staff wrote a monthly newsletter or commentary on the evolution of electronic markets, fees, IB offerings & changes. I think a lot of traders look to IB as a traders' advocate for electronic markets - the rag could take on an advocacy-type tone.
It's a real-time Ticker of the Arbitrage-Window values....You already have it in TWS but your clients want it in an Index-Ticker-format.
PREM: "It's a real-time Ticker of the Arbitrage-Window values....You already have it in TWS but your clients want it in an Index-Ticker-format" Correct. I use IB, but I do all my charting through Medved Quotetracker using the IB datafeed. Since I trade mostly YM, I use TICK, TRIN, Time/Sales and Pit noise (I have a subscription to this) almost exclusively. Pure price action. I can chart TICK, TRIN and have time/sales prints through my IB datafeed. But not having a PREM symbol to chart means I miss out on the key timing for when a program buy/sell kicks in. This, imo, is a very critical datapoint to chart, and one that IB is sorely lacking. Other than that, IB has all the functionality I need to provide the data to QT that I use to trade indexes.
yes would like this as well including Premium. also backfill on trin and tick for both nas and nyse for QT thanks
Concur as to backfill. Even just a single day's backfill (previous 24 hours) would be good as a link loss\interruption during the day or equipment failure causes my trading to stop until I have accumulated sufficient data to give me confidence in them again. Jack
