IB, Please make it easier to apply templates. When I click on a template it should automatically apply it. Furthermore, swithing charting colors appears to be easy. However, when I tried to switch to white background---it did not work---the chart back ground stayed black. Are all the bugs worked out of this?
IB, Forget the ealier part of the post on the colors. I got it to work finally. But the templates need to be easier to apply. Another thing. What is the HMDS server stuff???? MY api (ZLT) keeps giving me popups about it.
Historical Market Data Server - charting data. Could you clarify how the templates should be changed?
Please update the online API documentation. The documented error code list in particular is out of date. A comprehensive list of error codes is very important to developers trying to produce robust applications using the API. Here is one example that needs to be fixed immediately. Not only is Error 162 not documented but it seems that it has two contradictory meanings illustrated by the following real examples: ERROR: 162 - Historical Market Data Service query message:HMDS server connection was successful. ERROR: 162 - Historical Market Data Service query message:HMDS query returned no data: FESX SEP 05@DTB Trades This type of thing should be cleaned up now.
When I go to apply the template this popup box comes up and I have to put the damn symbol in!! I can never get it right. Every other software pops the template right on the damn chart without this extra step. Obviously, If I have a 60 minute chart up of the Eur.USd ---I want the damn template on that symbol/chart!!! The extra step is a waste.
TGM..... A little courtesy can go a long way. We're somewhat fortunate to have these IB guys here to listen to our suggestions. I realize you're a bit frustrated. In fact, I myself even kinda gave up on the template functionality. There's lots more pressing upgrades that are needed. But, the charting has greatly improved as of late. I'd like constantly updated line charting on a one-minute timeframe (they tell me it's coming). I'd also like to be able to zoom the one-minute candles so that they can be seen easily. Sure would be helpful for analysis.
Most weekends someone posts here or on the IB board that they can't log into TWS because they don't know the servers are unavailable Friday night thru Sunday afternoon. Please either make TWS aware of the shutdown schedule so it can tell the user, or change the system status page (which comes up when TWS won't connect) to show the true status of the system (i.e. normally scheduled shutdown period).
