IB Suggestions & Improvements

  1. IB reps,

I really didn't expect you to stick to the auto logoff so hard, but uhmm..., ok.

    BUT PLEASE FIX THIS BUG:

When the TWS is connected to an (Socket-) API client,
it crashes on exit (not in every case).

When you close TWS main window (no matter if via Menu, ALT-F4 or even Auto-Logoff), javaw.exe goes dead and you get a non-responsive application.
You need to kill it via task manager.

This bug was fixed in earlier versions, but is back in 851.

I cannot reasonably automate the administration of my hardware systems if I have to care about a maybe-zombie javaw.exe process in background.

My config is standard: XPSP2, Sun Java 1.5 (04), build 851 and connection via LAN routers. Nothing unusual.

    Please do something here !!!

I agree, this would be a great addon. Close all positions if the max daily loss is hit.

You could look at ButtonTrader (in front of TWS), which has this feature and many more advanced RiskManagement-settings.

    IBsoft,

Is there any list of known bugs anywhere for the users to see? It will help the users not to run into the same bugs that IB is already aware of.

To keep this thread on topic, I'll reiterate what I think are some of the best so far:

1] Connect different accounts so that they can share margin (I know there is the friends/family thing but this would be different)
2] Allow trading from charts (double click on bid/ask, etc.)
    3] Improve look/functionality of charts
(someone on another thread suggested just taking over an existing chart company rather than building one in house)

I think integrating charting with execution would be a great boon to IB. Not only for allowing faster trading decisions (from seeing an opportunity to entering trade) but also on not being charged double for same data feeds.

If you have other suggestions or ideas, please let's have them. But if you have a problem, gripe, issue, bug, etc. please contact IB or start another thread. Thanks.

  7. TGM,

Thanks for the recommendation; I've downloaded the sim and will check it out once the market opens. One question: On the main trading window the sim version rotates through some really stupid sayings like "Love to loose money. Make the same type of trades over and over again." Does the live version have this feature?

    Thanks,

I think you can get rid of that stuff but when you open DOM'S that part should be minimised so you even notice it.

Okay here's what you do. Go to view on ZLT scroll to toolbars and untick motivation and it's gone.
