Anyone have an opinion on whether the standalone or browser based system interactive brokers has is more faster/ stable? Esp. for trading futures. Thx in advance.

I think it's a toss up. Both versions work the same for the most part when it comes to speed/reliability. The browser version requires an extra open window on your taskbar in order to operate it. Some people might find that annoying.

    Good luck.

  3. The thing I like about the stand alone is that, in an emergency, all I have to do on my other computer is click on the shortcut. Its a little faster than going to the web site then logging in etc.

Both are equally faster/ stable. But standalone uses less memory and is browser independent. Standalone is better.

I'd say just try em both out for yourself. Use the stand alone for a week and then switch and use the browser based for a week. After a couple weeks, you'll know exactly which one you perfer.

  6. Standalone is much better I find having the IE box loaded up while trading distracting. Plus I'm not too sure about IE stability.
