IB short rebates

  1. I was looking at interest rates for IB cash balances, and noticed the short interest rebate tier I minimum is $100K. what exactly does that mean?

An example I saw seems to indicate that you get get paid on shorts exceeding $100K. In other words, if I was short $150K, I would be paid for $50K.

Is this how the short interest works at IB? Any other retail outfits paying short interest rebates?
