  1. Sounds like a run of the mill Force Majeure clause.

    Oh, hey, look! It's the author of that fun thread about the collapse! And he's back complaining about the lack of real traders!

  3. Tom, I can't post it now I am not at the right PC.

    Murrica, you assume that profiting is the sole motivation of every individual/trader.

    Profiting is easy, at least for me, you go long because the FED is long. You go short when FED stops or is forced to stop.

    You keep bullion reserve for the sudden black swan/collapse event.

    Which can also be triggered by earthquake or war such as Israelis attacking Iran, and Iran fighting back by destroying few Saudi pipelines.

    See.....Easy.....little information, little experience, MONEY IS NOT THE ISSUE

    The issue is something else, What kind of Country and World are you and me leaving for our children. You know when one day you are a father, you start to think about things like that. I get the feeling most young guys on this site are only responsible for themselves.

    Cmon now, putting aside Seykota's philosophies, what other reason is there to trade besides financial gain?

    I believe your intention is good, but this is a trading site, after all.

  6. This is from eBay's shipping insurance fine print. Everyone tries to C.Y.A. whenever and wherever possible. The last line is particularly funny.

    All IB is saying is that they aren't going to be liable for things outside their control. They can't control your ISP so why should they be liable? They can't control Obama so why should they be liable? No one wants to use an internet kill-switch but if it came down to it just be lucky that you are still around to complain about all of the money you may/may not have lost.

    II. THE INSURANCE DOES NOT INSURE:

    (I removed a bunch of stuff to shorten to the good stuff)

    Against loss or damage caused by or resulting from:

    Hostile or warlike action in time of peace or war, including action in hindering, combating or defending against an actual, impending or expected attack by:

    Any government or sovereign power (de jure or de facto);

    Any authority maintaining or using military, naval or air forces;

    Military, naval or air forces; or

    An agent of any such government power, authority or forces;

    Any weapon of war employing atomic fission or radioactive force whether in time of peace or war;

    Insurrection, rebellion, revolution, civil war, usurped power, or action taken by governmental authority in hindering, combating or defending against such an occurrence;

    Seizure or destruction under quarantine or Customs regulations;

    Confiscation by order of any government or public authority or risks of contraband or illegal transportation or trade; or

    Nuclear reaction or radiation, or radioactive contamination, however caused. But if nuclear reaction or radiation, or radioactive contamination, results in fire, we will pay for the loss or damage caused by that fire.

  7. So your methodology is to be long due to Fed/QE and be long bullion as an implied-put in case of war, nuke, etc. Dumb. Your risk is your trading; not IB's boilerplate.

    former senator lieberman, a few years ago, introduced a bill to allow the gov't to shut down the internet. if you don't believe this gov't would close the internet or markets WITHOUT legislation, if there was a run on the dollar or there were riots against the government, you need to reappraise all the assumptions where/how you live.

    most brokers attempt to cover themselves with a boilerplate in these cases. if you don't like the thread ignore it.

  9. I know all about the so-called internet kill switch and I love this thread.
    I simply found OP's cognitive leap from a message from IB to the internet kill switch to be quite a reach.

    1st you don't even have proof that he received this message.
    2nd it is better to love another person then this thread. ok, it is debatable.
    3rd don't use vocabulary to make yourself look erudite i.e. cognitive.
    your point is better understood without using the word cognitive.
