    Clarodina:
I have no idea about what IB would do. Just call them, You'll get a yes or no.

    Dynamic IP would not work.

    Phoenix:
Never noticed a time-out when I use mine.

  2. Yes, looks like you have 20-30 secs before it times out.

  3. Not for me - I am slow to enter and yet I have never had a reject unless I make a typing error.

  4. The platinum device give you 4 tries... then locks you out.

Since there are 200,000,000,000 possible combinations...
With the PIN increasing that even more...
Only an complete idiot or a sadistic corporate culture...
Would leave the Lockout Threshold at 4 all these years.

Unless you have huge fingers, can't read, or have dyslexia, 4 tries is plenty.

  6. I'm having a hard time believing this thread... Perhaps its because I spent so many years at various big banks using these things or because I've used a Bloomberg B-Unit for so long... But come on guys... These things are easy!

If you can't sort out a security token I'd suggest tossinng the computer all together and having a close enough relationship with a voice broker that there is trust.

Edit not trying to be rude or mean but this stuff should be easy... Also RSA tokens are much easier than the crap IB uses.

    need to vent:

1st device went dead after 6 months, so sent back.
New one doesn't work, passcodes are not matching, so have to send it back for another one.

    real fun

  8. You completely missed the point of my post...
Which is a simple mathematical, security point...
Focusing instead on excreting a sociopathic "insult" worthy of 11 yo.

If you have 200,000,000,000 possible number/letter combinations...
What idiot at IB decided that the "security cutoff" was exactly 4...
At which point the Customer is locked out of his account multi-million $$$...
And IB has to spend $20 or $50 or whatever on Customer Service...
In order to issue and track a temporary password.

Really? You can't get the challenge right in 4 tries? Really? Maybe you should hire someone to do it for you then?

Everytime I see this 0 with a line across it, I stop and wonder what the hell it is.

Is it a 0? If it is a 0, why the line across it?

is it a o? If it is an o, why the line across it?

The line is totally stupid. Who thought of it at IB?

Not by a trader, but by a market maker.
