If IB customers think that IB should offer them the “Fraud Protection Guarantee” like many other on-line brokerage firms already do to their customers, can vote at IB’s features poll under Account Management ID 2212.
    Thanks

  3. Will API system builders be able to call the device to insure their software is not being used on more than one machine ?
Wow - that would be a terrific feature !

The device is not attached to a computer. It simply generates one-use passwords.

I entered a suggestion (#2416) that they offer a USB security device (a/k/a dongle). I believe the technology exists now, and that would solve the problem of unattended login for automated trading.

Wow, I unsubscribed from this thread after my last post because I didnt want to read the usual crap from jimrockford that I knew was coming. Now that it has bubbled back to the ET front page I just re-read it from where I left off.

So someone agrees with me and disagrees with you so that automatically makes them an alias? And then you demand that they answer your ridiculous accusations after your feeble sluthing skills have already been outed (re: 2006 vs 2007)?

You really are a piece of work Jim. Take a good long look at your participation in this thread - it ain't pretty.

for years i asked Ib for one thing-to be able set certain amount of margin being used.
everyone will benefit from this implementation-ATS guys, who will be protected from overfills, in case, if you have many open orders, any trader, who accidentally type 10000 shares instead of 100, and also in case, if someone want to pump some stock at your expense.
now-to change those settings on your account-that's where we need this device.
i glad to see that SL65 post similar requests on page 24. i ask IB for it since 2003 many times and still hope they finally implement this some day

"IB's approach also fails the laugh test.

'People do not put 5 locks on their door...
They put one good lock... plus get insurance...
Because all security devices have major limitations.

'Unlike E*Trade that simply says "Dont worry... you are insured"...

    'IB rejects insurance...
And then tries to force you to put "5 locks on your door".

'The whole IB security situation is scary as hell."

"there is no protection in IB from fraud or unauthorized access"

Would someone from IB care to confirm that accounts are NOT protected from fraud or unauthorized access? Most brokerages have an asset protection guarantee that will reimburse an account holder due to loss from unauthorized activity in their account.

Does the current security device have a life span or does it take batteries ? mine is 3 years old. There is no apparent place to put in new batteries. It would be bad for it to quit just when you want to log in every day. Also will I need it to log in through my PDA?

  10. Exactly. This would kill 2 birds with one stone, so-to-speak....and provide that auto logon feature everyone is now so used to.
Why doesn't IB ask "smart guys" like us before taking action on a technical change or addition ?
