Ok I subscribed for 'trading access' for pits not for individual market subscriptions ---I am not paying 55 dollars for cbot ---i already do under another platform.

But it is odd that I can get the last quote for Live Cattle at the CME without the data subscription and not for Cbot. But yet I can get an electronic quote for ECbot grains.

I will play with it some more.

Are you sure that you are getting a quote for the meat on CME, not GLOBEX?

I am getting quotes for both! It appears to be live CME Live cattle and hogs from the pit. It may be slightly delayed---but it is running right with my realtime quotes and is right on top of your CME globex cattle quotes.

U guys could at least pipe through some kind of delayed pit data---so at least the order lines show something. Kinda odd entering an order with no quotes or nothing. Delayed data on commodities is free on the web. I dont think it would eat up to much space for you guys to do. CME delayed is 10 minutes on the web and that delay wont make a difference sending something to the pits. :p

I almost put in an order today to sell short Corn in the Pit. But several problems came up.

First: I was unable to attach a protective stop with the order. Uh, oh.

Second: I tried to enter on a stop (breakout trade) which was also unsuccessful, I guess I could have entered with a limit or market order when the market did break but that would have required for me to watch the market live.

    So my questions are
    - how to have a stop in place (even if just simulated on IB's platform)
    - how to enter on a breakout

    Thanks.

    Thanks ids,

Please enlighten me to my erroneous thinking though.

    Today, I was going to go short @ 234.5 with a stop @ 236.5

Exit after a few ticks as it was just a test trade.

Now, if I am really worried, I might think of entering a short @ 234.5 stop limit (limit at @233.5), stop @ 236.5

    One tick is $12.5/contract ....
