It's probably your ISP. IB's internet technology is not robust to ISP problems. Unless IB decide to improve this you will get disconnections from time to time if you are using it over the internet.

None here today - East coast server. TWS v862.9a , Java 1.05.08b3 Last week however, there was a rash of quote problems. Everyone was complaining.
They seem to have corrected those issues at this point...haven't had a problem since. None today. By the way, I rarely have disconnects. OldTrader
They know that there is a problem with using the system over the internet and they also know how to fix it. All internet based brokers basically have the same problem at the moment. It's mainly only retail traders that use the internet and since they are not generally expected to make money there is not a huge incentive to provide fast reliable internet technology. Better to spend the money advertising for new customers. Some day this may improve but don't hold your breath. If you need a reliable service get a leased-line connection to your broker.
