I was running a fresh install of '98 within the past month at work, when I upgraded to latest TWS, had funky problems with alerts and TWS would hang. In the process of troubleshooting (NIC driver) I managed to corrupt win 98 somehow - I could get to the net through the command prompt, but not through windows. Since it's a junky computer, I did a clean install of Win2k and it works quite nicely now. I'd also recommend, however, taking some profits and buying oneself a $400 computer that can run XP. In the long run, it will be well worth the money. wtm
I just replaced my Windows 98 computer. Had been using it as a backup for TWS without any problem. Incidentally, I also reinstalled the operating system at one point. When I was finished, the computer operated just like it did when it first arrived from the factory.
thanks for the reply Hurricane. I couldn't ask for a more reliable computer now. Will reopen my IB account shortly. Hope it works.
