IB provided false market data, can I claim compensation?

you will need to provide proper details and if you think there was an execution problem, send details via ticket so the service team can review. Note, charting and display data is not the same as execution data. data behind the scenes is real time tick by tick and your order would have been resting, most likely at ARCA but that is a guess. I highly suspect you are not comparing apples to apples as others also using difference services do not see the prices you are comparing to. However, send the ticket so we can take a proper look at things.

You will have to show harm and take it to arbitration.

the market data you see is not the same data that is used to trade on the exchange. Differences can occur with processing data for exchange codes and consolidating ticks, etc.

There is some precedence, as IB was forced to pay like 20mm to a prop firm in NJ that missed an option expiry because IB had the wrong contract date. Market prices are trickier however because the blame can lie anywhere.

Please do your homework before you complain and make an inaccurate statement. Here is an independent source - Bloomberg. The time in the image is HK hours as I'm in HK but unless you claim bloomberg is also providing false data and are going to contact them to claim compensation, perhaps you'll change the title of your thread and admit you are wrong and I dare say, apologize for making a false accusation.

Why is the screenshot saying date "12/16"? That would be a Saturday. Is it a Timezone issue?

  7. Without taking a stand who provides correct data, there are different sources giving different prices for the date though. Here's for example Yahoo Finance which shows low 467.43 for the date and I got the same price elsewhere as well. So maybe Bloomberg is indeed providing false data, or correct data, who knows. It would be interesting to know why there's the disparity though.

Upon reflection, IB owes the OP all his losses and a pony for his troubles. I recommend he ask for a pinto colored one.
