IB Paper Trader BUG

Discussion in 'Order Execution' started by estrader, Dec 18, 2005.

  1. There seems to be a bug in IB paper trader, not sure if the same happens in the real version. When I sent an order to buy 1 JPY fut at 0.008737, it bough it at 0.0087. Then, when I placed a limit order to sell it at 0.008741, it immedately executed it at 0.0087. Does this also happen in real life version.

  2. this is a paper trading simulated execution issue. Has nothing to do with live orders. Report it to IB.

they are probably working on it, in the beginning the contract wasn't even supported. Stops don't work either. I guess we will have to live with the fact that this product is not perfect yet and understandably not at the top of their priorities list.

  5. Paper trading is in beta, regardless of what version of TWS you are running. (its the server processes that are beta). So please treat it as such. You cannot have the same expectation of it beeing error free as you would with a production system.

  6. We understand the prior Demo is not good. Does this paper trading sytem basically have the same problem?
I expected this paper trading execustion simulation shall be different and improved on the demo mode. Are they basically same ?

No, they are not the same. You need to use the latest TWS to get the latest and best simulation. Further, we are still improving both the back- and front- ends.
