I also experienced the same early this week, the connection dropped about 40 minutes, my ATS could not manage the orders, which turned a small profit to a small loss. This does not happen frequently but can be very annoying.

  2. Hmm...i didn't notice SGX out this week - all my problems where with the OSE. Any SGX problems you experienced where at IB and not the exchange. My DTN IQfeed for SGX has worked perfectly all week.

I agree with you regarding customer service during the Asian hours. If you have any broker alternatives for Asian markets, please post them.

    Best regards,

OSE Clarifications: We did have an issue on the 15th, (and I believe a number of firms did). I don't have the full details at the moment but it is being investigated.

The other issues that you seem to be experiencing appear to be when the exchange has a delayed opening. This occurs when there is an order imbalance at the open - usually when there is a gap. This results in a delayed opening which can be a few seconds or a couple of minutes.

FYI.. OSE is one of the least realiable exchanges and frequently struggles to cope with periods of high volume which can lead to delayed execution reports or similar.

Regarding the Asian service, I'm not sure why you guys don't call us. While chat is not available between 0800-0830, HK has the fastest telephone answer speed of all the desks, with an average answer speed of 6 seconds. The telephone trade desk is also available at the same number.

  4. Hi Steve,

That's good info. I didn't know about these 'delayed opens' as a standard OSE practice.

You clear up a lot of my questions. Thx.

I guess I'm too much of an Internet junky :). I didn't even think to pick up the phone as it wasn't something really urgent, just annoying as I didn't know what was happening.

    Best regards,
    MK

Delayed "openings" have been standard among Japanese exchanges for years. I was informed that if it weren't for OSE's new trading system .......it would have been worse!

Japanese have just realized that they need to be a wee more competitive with their exchanges.
