Rui, I'd be happy to dig into the delays you see if you are anyone having the same issue send me a PM with your account ID (username or account number) along with a date, time, contract detail specifics which I can pass along to our tech team to assist with the trace and review of your audit tail.
Hello def. Thank you for offering your assistance. I didn't know there was an IB representative here in the forum. It's good to know that. Here is an update regarding my problem: Yesterday I was less time than usual in front of my screens. Even so, during the time I was, I kept placing orders on NQ and MNQ from time to time, always far from the current price and just in the real account (I don't like to do that, as I understand that this causes more unnecessary "traffic" on the servers, but I have no other way to test the problem without risking to get stuck in a position). The result was that none of the orders I placed yesterday got stuck at that "Transmitted, not yet acknowledged" state... None... I must say as well that yesterday the market was slower than it was last week, so the testing might not be very conclusive. Nevertheless, I believe that this shows clearly that nothing is wrong on my side (computer, platform, settings, etc.) Despite being very time consuming (and waisted time...) I am going to do the same testing today and this time I will try to do the same on the paper account as well. Hopefully the market will be faster and more volatile than yesterday. If it goes well, I will assume that the problem was on IB's side and it was resolved. If that's the case, I will try to regain confidence to start trading on the real account again. I am sure you understand that it is a very unacceptable situation getting stuck in a position as I described in my previous posts. If it happens again, well, it becomes complicated for me to continue trading under these conditions. I confess that given my state of distrust and frustration, Sunday I was researching for other brokers for Futures trading. Yesterday I got some replies and asked them a bunch of questions and clarifications regarding their commissions, conditions and safety. I confess as well that I would very much prefer to stay just with IB, after all this time. But I have to accept that it might not be possible under such circumstances. So, I will do the following from here: I will proceed my testing today as planned. If it goes well, I will try and stay put with IB. If it doesn't go well, I will send you (def) the information you are asking, along with the audit trail details regarding any "problematic" orders. I know that it is much easier for me to locate those orders than it is for your tech team, as it is very time consuming. I have already located some of those "problematic" orders in Friday's Audit Trail, but they are just from the paper account (I was already on testing mode). I will give you some follow up about the results of today's tests. Thanks again.
I trade from Europe all the time when I am traveling and highly recommend trading on a server located in the USA. It has fixed all of my connections problems and let's me trade on the go with the same setup no matter where I am or what device I'm using. I like www.ninjamobiletrader.com because they have 1,000mbps connections and I've never needed to close down my trading platform. Works great with IB, sometimes I use IB connection through NinjaTrader with their latest update it doesn't disconnect anymore.
Thank you for your input. Someone suggested that to me, but also alerted me about the possible delay it might cause.
Update about the orders delay situation: Today the speed of the market picked up and the orders delay problem is happening again. I was checking Friday's audit trail and found orders with up to 30 seconds of delay until getting active. Today I had some orders with 10 seconds of delay and I just stopped testing because this is very frustrating. I have transmitted this information to @def and I am hopping he can help me. Thank you all.
I will provide additional detail to Rui S via PM who has been kind enough to provide specific details which we were above to trace. This does not seem to be a widespread issue as it look to be isolated to the paper trader but a couple of things came up/of note: 1. Our systems prioritize resources for live trading versus paper trading 2. Programs running on paper hosts will be more concentrated which could lead to some delays 3. we noted a 10 second delay on such an order which was submitted over a span refresh which caused a credit check delay. If any one on a live account experiences delays, please PM with order details so we can dig into the details. Of note: we have been upgrading hosts around the world and the paper trading hosts are no exception. The review did point out that we can provide additional resources per host for the credit reviews which will help. Server (US/Europe) is not an issue here. Hope this helps.
We appreciate the exhaustive explanation. Having said that I confirm You that the issue from time to time appear in a live trading account. (We don't have any clues about paper account as We don't use it) The ~10 second delays You hinted is our finding as well. Another finding You may be interested to know is that when the issue appear It seems to affect especially adaptive (algo) lmt/mkt order. When this is the case we don't use IBALGO Adaptive orders and most of the time the execution is immediate. This is related to stock indexes futures.
Update from Wednesday testing: I was on the live account for the first 90 minutes of RTH placing live orders on NQ and also MNQ, always far from the price. I did not "catch" any significant delay in any of them although there were at least two or three where I could see a "small" delay (no more than 2 / 3 seconds). On the other hand, it seems that orders far from the price might not be so sensitive to this delay problem (?), as the areas around the price action are the ones more "overloaded" with new and cancelled orders at a much greater pace. After those 90 minutes, I opened the paper account and started scalping, simulating live trading. At first all ok. After a while, the same issue like the previous days. I caught an order with a delay of 30 seconds when trying to close that "fake" position. The price was going up and down through that pending order for those 30 seconds, until it finally became active. Too late, the price was waaaay too far already. I am glad it wasn't in the live account. I have already told @def that I am pretty sure this issue wasn't happening at all in the paper account before. Thus, I am still waiting for @def feedback in order to decide what to do next. Thank you all.
RUI - you should see improvements on the paper trading tonight as additional resources and load balancing have been added. Collagen, please send me a PM or with details of times you see delays and details of your order so we can trace. If one off specific times or often (one off for example could be over the daily reset for example) thanks
