In the latest IB Communique there is this: I tried doing this but when I run the Gateway it says my TWS version is no longer supported. Has anybody had any luck getting the Gateway to run (via the IB API option)?
Runs here just fine.... and my own applications work with the gateway as if it is TWS (after the port settings are adjusted). Some 3rd party applications make strong assumptions of it being a TWS such as searching for TWS window... which obviously doesn't exist with the gateway.
Will the gateway tell your software what your positions and open orders are after a system restart? I've had problems getting some API based software (SierraChart) to do this with IB and it is easy to get out of sync if you shutdown your software client. I kind of like having another interface to see my positions and open orders but if they can fix this synchronization issue then it is worth looking into.
I understand the gateway behaves pretty much like the TWS. I cannot comment on the specific issues with SierraChart as I don't have the latter.
I could not access it from the site itself. I gave a try in the start/ programs/ ib/ ib gateway and it connects. I still have trouble connecting to Multicharts. No data displayed. Disconnected historical data. Must be simple, and I am not getting it. Any advice what port should be used and why historical is disconnected? This is what the IB Gateway looks like showing data disconnect
Hello, this is a bit confusing. Why is IB writing in its communique that this new gateway is non-GUI, since there is still a Graphical User Interface. Of course, you have much less buttons and no *bling bling* popups, but it's still a GUI. The people that use a Linux server still have to install X11, because Java requires it. Do you have some workarounds? (except: "install Windows 7" ) Greetings mintegral
