    What's wrong with a 3 month T bill?
    5.05% YTM

What is the ticker for '3 month T bill"?

  2. Ah, nice, the EFP lets you buy stock/sell SSF or short stock/buy SSF in one single atomic transaction.

As for which stock is best, dividends don't matter, those are priced into the SSF (which is used by EFP)

  3. I would choose one that has the yield and transaction costs you like. Better to buy 100 shares of a $100 stock than 1000 shares of a $10 stock as far as the commissions are concerned.

Also, I don't think you can buy t-bills at the auction through IB unless you're doing 1 MM or more.

  6. Is there some detailed discussion somewhere besides the IB example page.

I'd like to see an actual EFP trade and the implications in black and white.

  7. They have done some webinars on this which were hosted by OneChicago (probably archived by now).

  8. The only problem with the long stock and short SSF strategy at IB is they don't let you do it in an IRA account . This doesn't make sense since the let you write covered call in an IRA.

  9. Yes, I listened to the seminar on EFP's.

I'm still not sure how you avoid the 'first' 10k no interest trap.

Has someone here actually done this, and could post an actual example?

There are many ways of doing that in TWS, the simplest one is by using the SpreadTrader , type in the underlying and choose "EFP" flavor of it.
If you don't have the account with us you can use our demo.
