I used IB and TWS for close to 20 years. You made several wrong claims. First of all, if truly the issue is because of a new version of TWS then you can't at the same time say that the problem arose with all release types (stable, latest, beta) because each release type is published on different dates. That is why I was asking which release type and version you are using. Also, perhaps you do not like the way displayed data is updated in new versions but that does not automatically make IB or TWS worse across different versions. So, perhaps you could slow down judging others' understanding when they actually invest (wasted?) time trying to help you. So, again, like another user also asked you already, what version and release type were you using before and after the update?
I tested all three versions today when i noticed the update, had the same issue on all three. I usually only use the Stable version. the changes i noticed today: - Share orders in the order window (mosaic) now offers by $ amount rather than just share quantity, this is good. The VWAP is no longer connected to the prior day, starts at a totally different spot on the chart, i use VWAP standard deviation lines and this new approach makes these lines useless as they are now nothing more than parallel lines to VWAP, i dont like this change cause i the prior method was much more useful - The T&S no shows fraction price execution which means that its trickier to see and its simply useless, an order executed at 30.33 does not need to show 30.338 that nr doesn't even exist on the level 2. Are you using TWS on a daily basis? have you noticed the update yesterday? As mentioned, i went through all the versions, even paper trading account and these changes have been implemented on all versions simultaneously
So, this makes it a bit clearer. First, if you used the stable version, this means simply that you are the last to get updated to new versions. Anyone who uses the beta or latest got those changes weeks or even months ago. Next, just because you don't like something and used data and charts in a very particular way does not speak about the quality of the platform and new features or changes. What you are described in my eyes are all improvements. Vwap is supposed to be completely unrelated to prior trading days. It starts at the beginning of the regular trading session and ends at the close. Anything you do with it you were lucky that the platform displayed it the way you like. If you need custom features you certainly can request them but does not mean they must deliver them if your request is low on the priority list. Perhaps you need a custom solution if it's mission critical to your trading. Next, TS fractions are actually very important to reconcile certain issues such as investigating why an order was not filled or queue priority issues. I use IB daily and am on the LATEST release type and get changes pushed almost on a weekly basis. Your claim that all release types got updated simultaneously is STILL completely wrong. It shows its you who is not quite familiar with how IB does things. You were the last to get changed over with the stable release type. You can uninstall and try to install an older version.
WTF is the deal with IB. They used to have two independent columns (in Classic TWS tab) which showed Quantity (in shares) in Quantity Value (in USD). Now Quantity shows USD by default when you create a new order line, and the Quantity Value is no longer editable. v. 981.3a. In the words of McEnroe..."You cannot be serious!!!"
Sure, using the Stable version means I get updated last, agree on that. But the T & S issues you are wrong, no other broker software shows those fractions it's too confusing to catch when orders are going at speed, do you sound more like paid to promote them rather than have an honest opinion.
I don't really care how I sound to you. To me you sound rather clueless. Instead of just installing an older version and trying things out you keep on bit hing about IB. Perhaps it's you with an agenda... I tried to help, you just accuse me of promoting ib. Nicely done.
https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/interactive-brokers.201882/page-3#post-2886805 There are a few posts; all have conflicting dates that you started with IBKR. I also have the post where you ridicule me for clearing IBKR. I also have the posts where you admit you're asiaprop and volpunter. "Do I shill for them? Sure, if you want to call it like that. I trade with them for over 15 years, fx over 4 years on a personal account basis. Nothing is perfect, but its a business relationship that works for me."
