  2. I just want to chime in and give IB props for an excellent FOREX offering. You guys are ahead of the competition here, lets keep it that way. I'm looking forward to new enhancements coming out soon.

    Thankfully yours,
    MK

    Bumping this thread:

How many current liquidity providers does IdealPro have? And who are the participating dealers? With other ECN platforms, I can get that information, but i can't seem to find it on IB's web site, unless I am missing something. Does anyone else have a link to this info?

    IB,

Any update on Cross rate margins? I was under the impression that were going to go to a different model instead posting margin for each leg.

For example: current 100k EUR/JPY on IB is margined at around 5,000

and at Oanda it is margined around 3,000.

  6. I wouldn't hold your breath. Look at how long they're dragging their heals on having NZD available.

Until they resolve both of these issues, my FX trading will continue to be done elsewhere.

Yeah, I hear you. They have solved most of forex complaints with one exception. And that is the margin on crosses. I dont care about exotic cross margins but tying up 50k on 1,000,000 EUR/JPY is little high.

FWIW, their system works better than ever. It is just their margining on major crosses that makes them uncompetitive.

If you are mostly playing EUR/JPY, would it make sense to change base currency to euros? Only 2% margin for me. :)

LOL. I never thought of that. I am not switching base currencies. I can hedge out easy enough. But I may open another account in Euros. That is a good idea.

    Are you trading the EUR/JPY?

Well I'm mostly just holding a long-term position in yen. Just a little trading back-and-forth. Since the correlation between yen and the stock market is so strong, being long yen is a good proxy for being short stocks.
