good god bro---reading too much into things or I mis-stated something ---let me explicate

IF there is 100k offered at 11 and 500k bid for 10 ---that is what I meant by no spread. U technically have to pay up a bid to buy or sell at the market. Unless you want to join the bid or offer. You would be out a pip if you go at the market. That defines no spread to me. In my eleven years of trading that is always what was meant by no spread (at least at the cbot). Terminology can be tricky online.

  2. Actually, "no spread", as in "bid = ask" does happen on IB IDEALPro, although rarely and usually in crosses, not majors.

What you are neglecting is that the market makers -- putting up bids and offers, only the best of which we see -- may not trade with each other.

    IB,

Whoever you guys have making the market for USD/CAD on ideal pro---they are not doing their job. Might want to nudge them to wake up. That market is horrible for you for some reason.

Use the Alert Function introduced in Build 851. Available from the View menu. Further details in the User Guide. This allows you to set alerts via e-mail or sms. You can also use it to trigger or cancel orders, aka a conditional order.

Late apex is correct. The banks making a market in IDEAL-Pro cannot trade with each other. This occassionally results in 0 spread, i.e. the bid=ask. From my observation it is most common in GBP / EUR during the European morning session.

What happened to those tight IB forex spreads?!?

    Today EUR/USD was 2pips, sometimes even 3pips,
    during peak hours.

    2pips + commissions doesn't sound like
    a good deal anymore..... :(

    Steve?

    Hoi

Yes, I noticed it as well. looks like one of the major Market-Makers is on holiday? (one side of the bid/ask is 4m instead of 12m).

Same here. One thing I have noticed is how tight the Aud/Usd is and how wide the USD/CAD quotes are. Odd.

The EUR/USD is one tick wide but there is definately less market makers around or something.

EUR/USD is at least 2 pips wide here
    almost the whole day.
If you indeed have 1 pip spread,
then we are receiving "personalized" quotes.

I got 2 pips right now. But it is moving around a little more. Seems they are keeping it at 2 pips. I may have seen someone move inbetween.
