IB Margin requirements

Discussion in 'Interactive Brokers' started by scorinaldi, Jul 12, 2007.

  1. The reason I trade with IB is the high performance API to TWS. It may require high tech programming skills to use, but when it works it's the best and lowest cost of any "discount" direct access broker.

It's just their intraday margin consts which are temporarily (I hope) a big issue in futures contracts.

wow another day that IB raised margins

NQ was 1625 when I checked over the weekend, now that one has gone up to 1938. What's the excuse this time?

  4. IB is protecting itself from your potentially irresponsible behavior; now don't you feel guilty? :) FS

Get the message? IB doesn't want daytraders, unless they are heavily capitalized. It's gonna lose them my business in the long run.

  5. Hey it lost mine. And...my new broker just sent me two tickets to a well know Futures/Trader/Speaker whom I have always wanted to see. I did'nt even ask for them they just sent them. I don't need those kind of perks because they do what they say what they are going to do and thats enough, but it sure is nice!!!!!!

  6. Do any of you Future Traders have any experience with AdvantageFutures LLC? I'm considering switching from IB to them.:(

IB did not increase anything voluntarily over this Weekend. CME increased margins and we must follow. We keep our 4% intraday policy for now.

    NYMEX increased margin too?
I didn't see any increase on their web site for CL.
Only IB raised intraday margin so it's now equal to afterhours margin.
In this case $4050 (was $2025)
