I have a backup, but when you don't know your current position, you can't hedge it. Sounds like they need to redesign the Internet backbone system to be more redundant?
Oh come on! The problem was not IB's fault, and they DID re-route within 30min. I'd say that's pretty good. You try and run a broker with IB's client base and see how quickly YOU can re-route. I still love you, IB.
IB is not alone. RealTick has had major problems today as well. QCharts running fine. That's a switch.
IB does have two ISP's (UUnet and Sprint). There were two UUnet failures today. The first one automatically swtiched within 30 seconds to 2 minutes. The second time, the auto fall back failed. I don't understand the tech stuff on this but an engineer had to manually force UUnet to disconnect to release the circuit.
Hi def, I wonder if Globex stop orders have been affected yesterday. Did you read ddefina´s post in thread IB Downtime ?
I have no clue. Re: stops they will be moved to the globex servers shortly. The programmer assigned to the task took some time off as he became a new dad. He's back now and said he'll do it. Don't pin me on a date as I don't have one.
To be fair, it may have been a stop-limit order I placed, so its possible it didn't fill for that reason. I tested the regular stop orders, and they seem to fill on the penny, so I'll probably just use those for protection.
Today (not the first time) i get logged off for 10 or 15 seconds and then re-connected. This happens every about every ten minutes. Very annoying. Does this happen to any one else??
