IB Intraday Margin's gone for a few days.

  1. Until the volatile situation is over, no intraday margins.

However, given your chosen name I recommend another broker. Choose someone with low margins ... other than IB.

It looks to me that the margin removal is almost done automatically each time the VIX spikes up... (>30)

  3. I can handle full margins I just don't understand why they have stopped day margins.
When currently 4-5 other ecn broker dealers in Chicago I know of currently offer from 500-1000 intraday margins for these index's.
Because 1 person thinks there's a volatile situation doesn't mean another does.
Are you speaking specifically of these instruments or something else?
Because I constantly see confusion on boards like this when people are arguing about 2 different markets.

  4. Ill explain it to ya.

The same reason the Dick at LEH took more risk than he should have, and GS didn't.

  7. Yeah they do. I guess that explains their spam. Didn't get any from them before I moved three accounts away from them.

    Asswiper. Ignored.

  8. IB let me have more than 3X margin today (until overnight rules kicked in). It was just stocks and ETFs though. I would have thought I would only get up to 2X during the restriction?

Oh well. Glad they did. I kicked ass today, as opposed to getting my ass kicked like most of last week!

    Good trading to all.
