A question, since the I haven't gotten a response from IB, maybe someone here can tell me what is:

USD NET SHRT STK INT FOR FEB-2007

    under "interest paid"

Did I get charged interest on my short stock position?? That's what it looks like to me, but think I must be wrong.

  2. No, you get paid interest on your short position - but only if you have more than $100k proceeds from short sales.

You may get charged borrowing fees for hard-to-borrow stocks. This is something IB doesn't talk about much and doesn't break out as a separate line item, it's just an invisible slow bleed for short sellers.

Thanks. IB finally got back to me. Apparently, the charge is a "borrow fee".
