    mskl,
when i get time later today i will read through fleances list in detail and forward to the appropriate people. these guys are always interested in reading such info from experienced traders.
i sent fleance a mail thanking him for the info yesterday and might as make my gratitude public here.

In summation: if the appropriate people are not aware of fleances comments, they will be.

    Def,

In the order line of the new TWS, the cancel button is not available before transmitting the order. If I transmit the order,
then of course, the cancel button is available.

As you know, we sometimes load up orders just to cancel them without transmitting. Right now, the cancel can be done by right click and selection of the cancel command.

Making the cancel button available from the beginning will be convenient and, I believe, it won't hurt anyone.

    Thanks, always.

The "cancel" hotkey setup works really nice for this

    Subject: Annoying icons

I just got an email from IB saying that those new annoying icons on
the workstation will be dropped from the next release.

After a year working with TWS, I am still not fully comfortable with hitting the bid/ask for creating an order line. I've always thought it would be handy to have a pair of general Buy and Sell buttons that would create a default order for the highlighted symbol.
Now that there is the TOTAL line, I think this has become possible, as this TOTAL line has a lot of fields that are not being used. So: Could the TOTAL line have a "B" field for Buy in the Ask column, and a "S" field for Sell in the Bid column?
In this way you could create an order by clicking on the symbol and then on the B or S field in the TOTAL line. (The TOTAL line should no longer highlight of course.)
I included a picture of what it might look like (sorry for the extremely poor quality, but you get the idea).

As always, this should be optional, and fully customizable, as it will not be to everybody's taste.

    Some other minor suggestions:

    - The P/L amounts should also reflect commissions. I would also like to have the choice on how it is calculated: based on Last, Bid or Ask (like in QuoteTracker: Options/Preferences/Misc.).
    - In the executions window separate columns for time and date, so that you can leave out the date.
    - I agree with TraderWJ's suggestion of making the Cancel field available before sending the order.
    - In an order line, the Underlying, Exch and Description fields should not get a different color than in a symbol line when they are not highlighted. It has no meaning and you get too many colors in the left part of the screen (three, not counting the TOTAL line).
    - I would like to have horizontal grid lines that only appear between different stocks, and not between a symbol and its orders, nor between the separate orders. I believe this would improve the general view if you have a lot of orders. Maybe this would mean two different sets of grid lines, as not everybody would like it that way.

Is my "close position" suggestion (hit position size to create a closing order) being considered, def? (see page 36 of this thread)

Thanks for all improvements so far!

  7. Would be nice to enter new tickers without having to take your hands away from the keyboard.

Currently after specifying the ticker and pressing return, you need to move your hand to the mouse to select the routing.

This gets tiring if you are entering a bunch of tickers to trade.

Would be nice if we can do this all by typing.

  8. After "e-chatting" with support it appears that there is no way to control how NYSE orders are routed: the specialist, SuperDOT and some third avenue I don't remember.

Apparently the decision on how to route NYSE orders is made at the IB servers by some no-public algorithm. The support engineer couldn't provide any details.

    Suggestion: provide full NYSE routing

I'd like to be able to specify DAY or GTC in basket orders.
