How much are the fees to trade big cap stocks like Microsoft over in Europe. The exchanges are IBIS, D_IBIS, D_AEB, CKXETRA. When I try to subscribe to these exchanges, my only choices are ACE and ACE Globex. Are these the correct subscriptions?
I agree, I just downloaded build 762 and its so nice to be able to set which icons, if any, you want on the toolbar, which has also been sized down. Personally I prefer having the text icons over the previous rather cluncky pictures. There is also a new function called average price, which is supposed to give you the average price of a group of transactions. But in my executive window average price is always the same as the execution price. Anyone know how this is supposed to work?
The configurable toolbar is nice. I also prefer just text (no icons!). The only items I have are "Account Trades Bulletin". I don't use anything else. I really want IB to add a "Cancel Page" and "Remove Filled Orders" toolbar action. Actually a combined "Cancel Page"/"Remove Filled Orders" would be ideal. And please get rid of (or have an option to turnoff) the confirmation dialog for Cancel Page/All !!! I really love the new Quick Stock Entry. Now you can finally create a market line for a stock by just typing it in the Underlying column on a blank row!!! You can also configure Settings->Quick Stock Entry Exchanges to have multiple market data lines created, one for each exchange/route. For myself, I am just using "BEST". Much simpler and faster than that RapidOrderEntry panel. I also noticed that if you multiple select rows and right-click you get the choice "Delete Rows/Cancel Orders" which is an all-in-one action to remove many rows at once, canceling/deleting where appropriate. This is a step in the right direction, but they need to apply this to the regular DeleteRow so that it does the smart thing depending on context of the selected row, instead of popping up error messages "The ticker cannot be deleted becausee blah blah blah" The most annoying bug right now for me is still "Order getting filled causes row focus to be lost." I didn't want to start another thread, so I'll ask my question here. Which IB platform is the most stable, the browser or standalone? I run a P2 500 chip with 256 mem and a 10Gig disk that is mostly empty. I also use the free-be Zone Alarm firewall. I intend to trade ES only, with a different quote vendor and software for analysis. I'm only using IB for the execution speed and commission. I did a search of this topic and found something 18 months ago, but I know alot has changed in the last few months with IB. Any comments greatly appreciated.
I agree. I wish row focus would not be lost when an order is filled. It is particularly frustrating when working two orders and one gets hit multiple times with partial fills. You have to re-select the order you want to enter two or three times! This can be a problem if the market is moving fast .
I had been using Pushpin and PowerMenu to keep IB JTWS on top of QCharts window. This has worked fine for a year. But lately, starting with build 760.6, it is not working properly. After setting "Always on top" after a few clicks on Qcharts, the setting 'wears' off, and the IB JTWS gets hidden from QCharts. I have to bring it to the front again. The "Always on top" setting is still checked, but I have to uncheck and then recheck for it to start working again. I am not sure if IB 760.6 introduced this problem or if it was QCharts 4.2.1.2 because I upgraded both at the same time. This is happening on a Windows XP Professional desktop and also on a Windows 2000 laptop. Anyone else having a problem with Pushpin / Powermenu, or have any alternative software I can try. FYI for those who don't have these programs: PowerMenu http://www.veridicus.com/tummy/programming/powermenu/ PushPin http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,6535,00.asp Thanks, Fleance IB JTWS Bug & Feature Request List http://www.geocities.com/afleance/jtws_feedback.html
Definately the standalone version. The browser version is dependent on IE. If IE crashes (which does happen occasionally for me even in IE 6.0 on Windows XP Pro), then it will take the browser's JVM down also, and the IB JTWS Applet will go POOF! Also, you have control over when you upgrade the standalone version. If you use the browser version, you are forced to use the latest and greatest. One advantage of the browser version (I think) is that your settings, page layout, etc. are stored on IB's server which is convenient if you trade from multiple computers. Fleance
