I'm not sure about that. I'd say listening to audio price ticks all night, combined with taking pictures of a monitor are much more interesting than any trivial detail of IB interface.
Perhaps, but I'm quite use to hearing prices overnight. I rarely take photos of screens, nor even capture tools, but showing a 50% loss on a futures position in a minute, is more disquieting.
If OP is really living like this, then he would need to be making at least 5 million/year to justify the hit on quality of life. Since he is trading MES, I believe he is not.
IMO, no hit on quality of life. But impressive how you are able to translate whatever impact to a dollar figure. Thus far, that has eluded the various sciences. E-minis permit scaling in / out of positions. Years ago, pre-e-mini, I traded much larger the big SP, but of course at much lower prices. And actually, most of my positions overnight are SPY puts/calls. 2 e-mini = 1 option, so relatively easy to cover, at least 'til 4 am when cash SPY trades, via IB can cover cash SPY, & close-out my option position -- only done if remaining prem in option is low, but I usually trade deep in-the-money options.
Sorry, had referred to micro, as mini, and yes, better risk mgmt, and esp in these mkts, with almost record intra & overnight swings, it provides some edge.
Have you telephoned IB about your problem with what they're showing for your account status in their trade execution platform ??? wrbtrader
I've given-up dealing with IB tech support. Have traded with IB for 20 years, and keep looking for other brokers.
Not a real debit, just a bug in display in BookTrader. Very annoying, and distracts from trading, but no real world change in balances.
