IB Figure yourself out with TWS so many easily fixable errors.

  1. As I said, TWS has the current vwap available as a column, you could use that as a reference.

Medved trader is fast. Paid version unlimited charts. Many other features. Same developer as the old Quotetracker.

TOS is fast enough, and also can do multiple charts. Free with an Ameritrade acct.

Hi all. I'm a regulatory attorney at IB and don't work that much with the TWS development teams, but I'm going to print out this thread when I get a chance and look into the issues you raised. Thank you for taking the time to write up the detailed descriptions and screenshots; really appreciate it.

No matter the outcome, you just made 8,000* friends.

(*No, I have no idea from where the "8,000" might come, but everything sounds bigger when it starts with "eight". Try it.)

Please pass that on! I just spent 20 minutes with a representative on chat and they were telling me nothing is in the works to implement proper VWAP! I am going to create a new features poll and will link it here. Hopefully, some fresh blood will get this going. I sent out about 5 emails to Questrade a while back and within a few months they rolled out VWAP, which a lot of people appreciated.

    Cheers,

You can use DAS with IB. Go to dastrader.com and click the Subscribe button, then select "For Interactive Brokers".

Thx Harami, you just solved my problem, i dont understand why IB doesnt tell people they can do this, im sure they make just as much off someone leasing the software through DAS as they do otherwise, since their fees for up too date quotes are very small when compared to most propfirms.

I have never known there was the ability to use these other platforms with IB, starting monday im going to figure this out. I had just started the process of bouncing paper work back and foreword to move to another firm too, so you saved me alot of hassle.

    Thx alot!

Now the only thing im worried about is whether or not im going to be able to trade through DAS but still have TWS and their scanner up during the day, guess i will find out soon. If i cant have the TWS scanner up im kind of left back in the spot where im still left without a tool, and still going to have to do a work around, but VWAP and speed is more important to me anyways, might just have to log out of DAS and into TWS to scan throughout the day.

Yep, I guess so. :D I dont even know what to say for myself, guess i feellike an idiot. Through all the time filling out forms at prop firms they would always offer you 1 or 2 platforms, i assumed TWS was IB's only choice, i never knew.

TWS-STABLE updated itself to the "May 9th" version today. All the problems that have plagued me recently (very very slow to authenticate login, annoyances in the "orders" activity windows, etc) are still present.

  10. I received a digital bulletin today from IB and it crashed TWS hard... I had to shut her down. The first time that has ever happened. I was short a stock, thankfully only a hundred shares, but had to restart the program and login again. I did change my colour scheme this morning though, wonder if that and the bulletin coming in was too much for old betty?
