Thanks for your insight, def. The US sanctions on Chinese stocks might indeed be influencing my trading issues. I've already raised a ticket with IB, highlighting not only the unexpected trading restrictions on Hang Seng, KOSPI, and DAX, but also an inconsistency in my account's regulatory section. (US futures are fine) I found the following question was marked as 'Yes': "Is the account holder a member, employee, associated or affiliated person of a regulatory or a self-regulatory organization or exchange? (now reverted back to no) I'm awaiting their response for a clearer picture and potential solutions. Will share updates as I receive them.
Kospi and DAX would not be impacted. Feel free to add to your PM your account number if you wish and I can look into it further if needed on/after the 2nd of Jan.
Will PM you. As you are not American, you should be able to trade. We'll figure it out in private and then up to you on what you share.
Thanks, def, for the clarification and the offer to look into this further. I've sent my account details via PM and await your insights after the holiday period. Will update here once we have more information.
Sorry for my late reply. No, I have not noticed any changes recently. Nothing related to the Korean or Singapore futures market. And also not to DAX futures, which you mention in another one of your messages.
Thank You to have taken the time to provide an answer. I wanted to update you that @def from Interactive Brokers is actively working on a resolution for my case. At this moment, I prefer not to speculate on the specifics of what happened until I have more concrete information. Once things are clearer, I'll be sure to share any significant updates.
I wanted to provide a quick update on the issue I mentioned earlier: In essence, a technical glitch, stemming from a programming error, was the root cause of the problem that prevented me from trading futures. I'm thrilled to report that, thanks to the proactive assistance of @def this issue has been resolved, and I am now able to trade futures again. A huge thank you to @def for their dedication and help in navigating through this glitch.
Actually, US traders can no longer trade KOSPI due to a recent CFTC decision. We can still trade KOSDAQ futures though. More generally, US traders can trade Asian futures but not Hang Seng Futures. I trade futures in Singapore, Japan, Korea, etc., but not Hang Seng. But for a European trading with a US account, the rules may be different. Update: It seems like your issue was resolved, but I'll leave the above in case it helps anyone else.
How is anyone supposed to keep track of all these changes? Do you know which Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE) futures US citizens are allowed to trade and is offered by IB? I'll add them to my system. It appears that the list is quite long (most probably don't have the liquidity needed). https://www.hkex.com.hk/Services/Tr...Information-for-Overseas-Investors?sc_lang=en
