Just was able to get through to Pro support and they said 5-10 minutes, they are aware of the problem
Repeated "login failed" messages here in Atlanta. Then when I try to log on again it says "Too many log on attempts wait 5 minutes". That irritates me more than the failure.
same thing here in china. TF 23:26:23:543 JTS-Login-1433: Login failed - Failed send NSMsg - java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: socket write error

Good thing this didn't happen around 10 am. Lots of people would have had big open positions then. As it stands, I (luckily!) have a very small open position. What happens if you suffers a big loss now? Do you just have to take it on the chin and move on?
Maybe this is a scheme to see how many ET users are actual customers.... This is the first real continued outage (> 10 mins) I've experienced since becoming a customer in 4/2007. Experienced bugs and momentary hiccups but a first for me.
You got it. No way in hell IB would be compensating anyone if the outage was system wide. Too much $$$.
