I have 2 accounts with IB, one on the US servers and one on HK server. When this happens, it is usually not a problem on both servers, so I logged onto HK this morning after TWS went down. Just a matter of going to account management and moving money from one account to another. But IB REALLY should be spending money on a backup server system and a backup to the backup server system for times like this. Just keep the server farms in different locales. Can you imagine Redi going down and all the GS boys just sitting there with their collective thumb up their ass waiting for the system to start up again?
Yea right lets fire someone , great solution â not !! I get the impression that a lot of people here have not been trading for that long and do not understand that these things happen. As I have said in a previous post every broker I ever used for Day Trading has had a day like this . Fyi â I have been Day Trading on line since 1999. Read the agreement you signed with IB when you opened your account , all brokers have you sign the same thing . They are not responsible for losses caused by internet connectivity issues - period . So even if they had a totally incompetent moron who did something to cause this they are not liable. Shit happens , it sucks especially if you lose money because of it, however it comes with the territory of on line trading. They all go down on us and suck from time to time !!!!
Finally back up for me @ 11:43 That was killing me seeing most of y'all saying you were back up and I was not! Nice to know I'm lowest on the totum pole of priority here in Detroit when it comes to server issues.
Try rebooting your computer. All the login attempts seem to choke TWS. It was using 500 MB on my computer.
Did they automatically cancel some pending orders 'cause I'm sure I had pending orders that don't appear now and didn't get filled... I don't like that at all... How could I be sure?
I was able to log into HK. Took about 5 minutes to xfer things around before I did, but I was able to log in. Only trade currencies at present right now with IB so I didn't have globex issues. Don't know if HK had same problem, but by the time I tried I was able to get in.
At least I'm not alone... I think it disappeared after some time 'cause I got filled on half of my orders...
essential to have a back up broker to contain the damage. absolutely mandatory with the potential for mega deficits in highly leveraged futures situations.
