I did at 11:06:40 Eastern time. This was pretty scary, especially if stop orders had not been honored while the system was down. The moral of the story I think is to have 2 brokerage accounts. I would like somebody from IB to explain what happened here and what, if anything, they are doing to prevent this from happening again.
Yeah that was my reason of asking. Downtime is not a problem for me but only if stops are honored and executed properly.
Haha, here's a funny story for you guys. Just a few minutes ago I entered a long ZG trade, and for the first time in years I put in a stop loss order too, just in case, I exited my trade manually and forgot about the stop loss, it triggered and got me short, I then scored 5 ticks on it. Funny that. Oh, gold is testing highs again, back to work.
Wow...just noticed EVERY chart has a big volume spike at 11:05 am. Now we know which broker everyone uses! I sure hope someone gets reprimanded/fired for this fiasco at IB. But lucky it was a slow day today...
Is it just a coincidence that this happened when many staff are likely to be on holidays? There must be just a few key I.T. guys there holding the whole thing together during regular times. Jeez. And those guys are going to be getting some big pay raises next year!
