IB Down

  1. How what if this outage made you money?? Would you all still be complaining :-}?

That happened to me many years ago with Cyber Trader.

Can not remember the details but back in 2000 I had 1000 shares of CSCO in my account the next morning that was not suppose to be there or so I thought. Apparently when I sold it the night before it did not take even though I had an execution from Cyber . Their mess up made me $ 1000 . Hmm I think that was the only time I made money that year trading :-} j/k

  3. No, I opened my trade while Ib's system was down so they don't know the price.

    Close trade now @ 97.44

    Thanks.

Anybody else feel very hesitant to trade now? Hesitation is my worst enemy and now he's gotten a whole lot stronger.

  6. Nice gesture of offereing 1 month commission waiver on everyone who was signed on during the debacle.

  9. After the dust settle, one thing i learnt from this. It is like a fire drill on a slow year end day. No harm no foul. Almost all the markets stayed where it was. You guys should be happy that this didnt happen on the first day of the new year when volume is heavy. This fire drill shows that 90% of IB's traders are unprepared. We as IB's customers should really be prepared for this kind of crazy thing. But with that being said, i am such a small trader that i cant afford to get a backup broker and needs to live with the outage on my one lot if it happens next year

I am a VIP at IB and would like to explain what happened. My secretary was sharpening my pencil when I became very light headed and fell backwards into a server. I promise everyone who had a problem that $5,000 will be credited to your account. Now if you don't mind, I'm going out for a smoke.

    Thank you for your patience.
