IB does not send out monthly PAPER statement, what if some thing happens to you?

  1. Sorry I did not understand this. How do I add my wifes name to IB a/c without closing and opening a new a/c? Thanks

  2. It makes them look environmentally sensitive. Isn't it great to trade with a Green company concerned about global warming.

Not only do they avoid chopping down trees unnecessarily the also only send ticks every 200ms. By doing this they reduce the power consumption of 1000s of processors doing our grandchildren a huge favour.

    Rock on IB :)

If I were a loner who lived alone in my appt. and never went out and I died, it might take long while before the neighbors noticed the stench (especially during the winter months if my heat wasn't turned on). However, if my mailbox were overflowing with IB statements then it might only take several weeks before the mailman notices that something is amiss and notifies the proper authorities ...

    Good points!

A few things, IB, doesn't mail out statements to decrease costs, and usually pass the savings on to you. Also I dont know about you guys, but some months my statement is a 100 pages, imagine the cost of mailing that. It adds, up, some brokers statements or 5-20 pages, with limited info. IB has a lot of info on there statements.

I'm sure IB is thinking, "With electronic storage, why would you want paper statements?" I would agree. Print out your own statements at your own cost if you want hard copies.

  7. You'd be fine if you kept your records in a fireproof safe. But what if a meteor crashes down and smashes the safe?

Again not a problem, they can just dig up the houses with large power tools. Of course if the earthquakes swallow the post office too then you wouldn't get your paper statement anyway.

Yikes this one is a real problem. There's not really a good solution to this.

I really think the tattoo on the foot is the best solution here. Or maybe printing a statement every morning and mailing it to yourself from another state so it will take more than a day to arrive. That's what I do and it works very well, although driving 12 hours a day is kind of a pain.

  9. What if "Heroes" is true and 93% of all people die from the Ashanti virus by next year.

Are you going to risk the fact that the 7% MIGHT include an IB rep or two to help you get your money out? What if they don't make it? What if you don't make it but went short the market right before Ashanti crashed everything and you need an heir to close out the positions before the post-Ashanti rally kicks in?
