IB difficulties

  1. I think its clear that your Java is undamaged since you saw the Island book. The problem is that I already have TWS running so I do not have a pristine set-up as you have,

Go to the Java Plug-in window and enable the java console. Restart IE. Try to run the demo applet again. Copy and paste the event log ifrom the Java Console window. It should tell you where it is hanging up. Send that log to tech support.

I have one final guess. See if you have 128 bit (high) encryption. I'm almost sure you must have it. Go to About Internet Explorer in the Help menu. It will say something like Cipher Strengh 128 bit. (or 56 bit)

  3. No, I was referring to the trusted group of your firewall if you have one. My IE security level is the default level for Medium.

  9. Hmm. You did get anywhere. It seems it couldn't even unpack the jar file.

If you are not too tired. Install 1.3 from the Sun site. Go to the Java Plug-in control and set 1.3.1 as your Java version. Clear the jar cache and restart IE. In IE go to Internet Options>Advanced and verify that you have Java 1.3 checked.

I'm using 1.3.1 here so I don't know if the problem is 1.4. Could be.

  10. I meant to say that your Java did not get anywhere. It didn't even start the applet.
