Don't know what the cause is and frankly I do not care. Just want it to work. FWIW I have been running at times their simulated account alongside the real account and at times one of them goes down and the other keeps chugging along. And this is on the same computer..... My datafeed comes from somewhere else (and is very sensitive to ISP problems.........). When that third party (non-IB) datafeed goes down then IB is down too, and I deduce it is the ISP. Unfortunately IB goes down more frequently leading me to believe that the issue have to be sought at IB's end. I sometimes have that the quotes on TWS keeps coming while TWS keeps trying to log back in....(and orders cannot be executed). Stops may not be of any help - that is if they are held by IB and not on the exchange - when IB has the problems. To the other poster: 2006 has not been as bad as some years ago. I remember that I once stopped trading for over 8 days because it was up and down like a yo-yo. In the end some changes were made to the way TWS got the data from IB . We were all forced to upgrade for the first time. Everything became fine afterwards for quite some time but recently the issues have been increasing. Maria
Tradestation was fine today during the IB outage. One thing to remember is that hardware failures do occur. You can have multiple redundancies but sometimes they fail too -- it's very difficult to test that type of thing without taking an outage, and of course that's what you're trying to prevent.
Iâm in the UK and the connection went down for me at 12:39 yesterday (19th) and went down again today at 12:56. On both occasions it stayed down for the remainder of the day. Anyone else have problems today as well? I wasnât watching the system so I never noticed until after the close or I would have tried restarting TWS. Does restarting TWS usually help restore the connection? If so I might put some code in to restart it if no data is received for a set interval of time.
I also had IB data feed problems in the last two days. The data connection switched on and off for a few minutes and then TWS bid/ask did not update any more. Very disappointed, giving that IB has a reputation for data stability.
it would be nice if the folks at IB added a reconnect option in the file menu since this is needed often and it would be easier than completely closing the application
