well, i have accounts with both, and have dealt with both customer services several times. my experience is that they both suck bigtime -- everthing you've heard about IB customer service also pretty much applies to datek's service.

  2. When I used to trade with Datek they would do double fills,
miss fills and other totally wierd things. Datek doesn't even
compare to IB. Datek is for newbies.

IB responds to emails within minutes. Datek can take untill the
    next day, maybe longer!

Scale in/out of a trade 100 shares at a time ect., to a thousand
shares, ect., and Datek will cost you a hundred bucks! With IB,
    it is only $10.

    500 share trade = $5 with IB.

    1000 share trade = $7.50 with IB.

Datek is MORE expensive = $9.99 and a Bad Fill.

I finally quit Datek when a customer service person said my QQQ
fill (which traded under the price by .50 for over an hour while I
was away from the computer) wasn't filled because the QQQ
specialist was too busy that morning. Duh!

More like Datek is inept. IB rocks!

  3. This trade with IB would be $1 each way. With Datek, $9.99
each way. I don't even want to mention E*trade... oops, I did.

Just think, you could scale into this trade 2 shares at a time and
IB's commission would only be a penny more than Datek.

A max charge independent of the number of shares would be nice

Would request somebody telling me a reliable broker for trading (Selling)Options on futures.
Priorities are --Discount broker , Online trading platform .
I opened a/c with IB . they dont have the range for Options on futures .Only four commodities . No S&P.
I was thinking of Man Futures .
    Will appreciate some input .
    Thanks

  8. IB carries only futures product that are traded electronically, hence the lower commission.

Hopefully this isn't going to jinx me but ...

In the last month I had two major problems with IB. One morning I checked and ALL of my stock positions were wrong ... SW glitch, I think. In another, ALL of my futures positions had been closed, even though I never even approached a margin call.

In one case I called IB and the problem was solved in 30 minutes, including them returning my phone call from overseas. In the second case after an email, my positions reappeared within a few hours.

Granted it would be nice NOT to have these problems, but in both cases they were solved quickly and with minimum fuss and that's good enough for me.

I have an account with 5perside.com for trading the nonelection futures. They are a division of Man financial. I have had good luck with them so far. I trade the ags mostly with them. And It really is 5 bucks perside for both futures and options. Theres no extras except at new york. But this is just my opinion.
