IB - Booktrader 906 no more single click!

Discussion in 'Interactive Brokers' started by atrocious, Jun 14, 2010.

  1. i still have not completely understood what patent TT is holding?
Just the function that a click in bid/ask column generates an order?
There are probably a lot more platforms next to IB which offer the same function and who would conflict with TT's patent.
Or do they all pay royalties?

It's all explained on the first several pages of this thread. Some companies actually pay them royalties, Ninja Trader is an example.

What IB calls BookTrader is commonly called by others as DOM (Depth Of Market) order entry. From what I understand, TT actually holds the patent for the DOM itself, but the wording of the patent stipulates that the order must be transmitted by a single mouse click or keyboard shortcut. So if you add a confirmation pop-up, there is no infringement. In case you have missed this, the patent expires in 2016 (if I remember well).

  7. so every software vendor who offers a DOM (TS, IB, Ninja, and so many others) is paying royalities to TT?

Ninja: yes. IB and others: in the courts or on TT's "to-do" list. Front end providers from outside US: no (TT lawyers apparently can't figure out what to do with those).

  9. I have been using the auto click for a few months now with my XP64 system and it has worked great - Thank you !!

I am moving to a Win 7 64bit enterprise system and I can't seem to get either the 32 bit or the 64 bit to do anything (no changes from before running the program)

    Any ideas??

  10. dont

    dont

So why does IB not implement our solution, pop-up with an automatic click of the confirmation. Then in 2016 just remove it.
